The Valley of the Nile Turquoise Necklace is a one of a kind statement piece, handmade from solid sterling silver by Skylar Glandon. This necklace features seven genuine Egyptian turquoise stones sourced directly from Egypt, from the same historic mining region that supplied turquoise to the ancient Egyptian civilization thousands of years ago. Turquoise from this region has long been associated with protection, power, and divine favor, and was famously worn by pharaohs and royalty as both adornment and amulet.
At the heart of the design is a flowing, sculptural silver bar that represents the Nile River. The Nile is one of the longest rivers in the world and has served as the lifeblood of Egypt since antiquity, sustaining agriculture, trade, and culture in both ancient and modern times. The gentle curves of the sterling silver echo the river’s winding path through the desert landscape.
The necklace is set with seven hand selected Egyptian turquoise cabochons, each chosen for its vivid blue color and natural matrix patterns. Four stones are set along the upper curve and remain stationary. Three stones dangle below, adding movement and depth. Each stone on the left mirrors a corresponding stone on the right, creating symmetry throughout the piece, with the exception of the larger center stone that anchors the design and draws the eye.
Every stone is individually set in sterling silver and carefully soldered into place. The construction of this necklace required meticulous silverwork, including fine soldering at multiple attachment points to ensure strength. The result is a substantial yet elegant piece that showcases thoughtful design.
The necklace is finished with a high quality sterling silver chain measuring 16 inches, allowing the piece to beautifully frame the neckline. This turquoise necklace will draw lots of attention due to it elegant design and multiple high-quality turquoise stones. All silver components are solid sterling silver.
